Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Social Impact Business Incubator’
An initiative to establish a small incubator that supports local social entrepreneurs and community members in launching sustainable humanitarian ventures.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Reflective Thinker’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m super passionate about social entrepreneurship, especially when it comes to helping people. So, I’m rolling up my sleeves to work on a project where I can use my social work skills to help those in need and build stronger communities. My ultimate goal? To spread peace worldwide through my humanitarian work..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
DECA – A CTSO focused on entrepreneurship and competitive business skills, helping students develop leadership, time management, and project execution abilities.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America, which emphasizes business management, risk assessment, and analytical skills, fostering a strong foundation for executing impactful projects.
Competitions
This introductory TSA competition fits the incubator goal by requiring students to create a software project that addresses a social or educational need; it helps build technical skills and problem-solving abilities that are essential for developing a sustainable business idea.
DECA – Entrepreneurship
This advanced DECA competition is ideal for developing business planning and entrepreneurial skills. It challenges students to formulate innovative business ideas, critical for launching a Social Impact Business Incubator.
This introductory TSA competition builds on analytical and data interpretation skills that are critical for evaluating business performance and impact, aiding in the strategic decisions for a social impact incubator.
This advanced DECA competition demands a comprehensive business strategy and leadership approach. It prepares students to execute high-level business initiatives, aligning with the incubator’s objective of creating social impact.
Community Service:
Local Social Impact & Innovation Workshop
Why it fits: This activity directly supports the incubator by enabling students to apply skills from competitions to real-world community challenges in zip code 30075. It fosters collaboration, innovation, and hands-on project execution.
Implementation: Initiated in the Spring semester of Year 1, the workshop will involve planning sessions in Fall and execution in Spring. Collaboration with local community centers and mentors will guide students in running mini-incubation projects and pilot community programs.
Skills Development: Leadership, teamwork, project management, community engagement
